Shackle, speaking at the International Association of Special Investigation Units' annual seminar, warned private investigators (PIs) investigating insurance crimes to view their assignments as 'win or lose' situations for their employers. Stressing the importance of objectivity to the value of an investigation, Shatzel said that PIs must collect truthful information and evidence whether or not it is favorable to the insurer that employs them.
